MALISA FUNDERBURK, APC

I am a compassionate therapist dedicated to creating a safe, judgment-free space where you can be your authentic self. Life can be challenging, and I believe no one should have to navigate it alone. My goal is to walk alongside you, helping you find hope, healing, and fulfillment, even in the midst of life’s difficulties.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Georgia State University and a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Truett McConnell University (2023). I am an Associate Professional Counselor (APC) under the clinical supervision of Cheryl A. O’Connell, LPC, CPCS, BC-TMH, and the site direction of Rebecca Muyres, LPC, RPT-S, CPCS.

Healing begins when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable and real. There is great freedom in acknowledging that we don’t have to have it all together. I believe counseling isn’t about eliminating problems but rather about equipping you to find joy and peace, even in the face of difficult circumstances. True transformation happens when we address the root of the problem, not just the symptoms.

I specialize in working with couples, women, and teens as they navigate life’s challenges. My areas of focus include:

  • Anxiety & Depression
  • Grief & Loss
  • Self-Esteem & Perfectionism
  • Women’s Issues
  • Replacing Negative Thought Patterns
  • Premarital & Couples Counseling

As a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator, I utilize this evidence-based assessment tool to strengthen premarital and marital relationships. Additionally, I have extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)—an attachment-based approach designed to help couples break negative cycles, replace unhealthy patterns, and build deeper emotional connections.

On a personal note, I have been married for 26 years and have had the joy of raising four children, including an internationally adopted child. My personal experiences, faith journey, years in women’s ministry, and professional training have deepened my passion for walking alongside others in their healing process.

If you are looking to integrate faith into your counseling journey, I would be honored to offer biblical truth, prayer, and spiritual encouragement. However, I respect and support each client’s unique journey, ensuring that therapy aligns with their personal beliefs and values.

You are not alone. Whatever season of life you are in, I am here to support and guide you with compassion, authenticity, and hope.
